Job Summary
Lead collective bargaining negotiations as First Chair across multiple industries, drafting and analyzing agreements while developing comprehensive strategies to improve standards. Coach bargaining teams, support contract campaigns, and partner with organizing and regional units to build workplace power through integrated strategies. Recruit and supervise staff, providing mentorship on labor relations and capacity building while fostering an inclusive, anti-racist team culture. Resolve complex grievances and arbitrations, interpret contracts consistently, and oversee departmental budgets and policy development. Serve as a liaison between union leadership, member leaders, employers, and external consultants to advance statewide initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in representational work, labor relations, internal organizing, or contract administration
- Minimum of 5 years of First Chair collective bargaining experience across multiple industries or bargaining units
- Minimum of 5 years of experience leading teams and supervising staff
- Demonstrated experience developing and executing successful bargaining and contract campaign strategies
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively, with sound judgment and discretion, in politically sensitive and high-pressure environments
- Experience drafting, negotiating, and interpreting collective bargaining agreements
- Strong knowledge of labor law, including the NLRA, PERA, FLSA, and related labor regulations
- Proven ability to manage complex stakeholder relationships and competing priorities
- Exceptional written, verbal, facilitation, and presentation skills
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
