Job Summary
Industrial Wastewater Plant Operator will operate and maintain wastewater treatment plant equipment, determine water quality, and release treated water to a city publicly owned treatment works. Responsibilities include maintenance, installation, and repairs of mechanical equipment such as gas and diesel engines, heat exchangers, fans, valves, compressors, storage tanks, pumps, overhead cranes and hoists. The role emphasizes safety, environmental stewardship, collaboration with team members, and the potential for growth into a lifelong career in environmental solutions.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Ability to lift 55 lbs or more
- Experience as a journeyman working in the installation, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of process equipment of the type used in wastewater treatment facilities
- Maintenance experience (preferred)
- The ability to learn procedures related to safe handling of materials
- Committed to growth in a company
- Collaborative with team members
- Good eye-hand coordination
- Organizational ability
- The ability to be cross-trained to perform other jobs as needed
- Ability to communicate with others for safety and efficiency requirements
