Job Summary

Lead up-front design reviews with suppliers to ensure equipment, tooling, and robotics meet all relevant safety standards. Act as a Subject Matter Expert evaluating new product designs and conduct risk assessments on various machinery. Define program approach, timing, and deliverables while coordinating implementation and continuous improvement in safety programs. Facilitate design reviews and buy-offs, then effectively communicate new initiatives, standards, regulations, and management directives to internal and external stakeholders. Provide specific health and safety training as required and present knowledge to take immediate action when imminent risks are identified. Work cooperatively with union representatives and report program status weekly to management.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety, a related discipline or CSP certification
  • Must be able to work in various locations within assigned region
  • Be flexible to work outside of typical office hours to support client projects as needed
  • Ability to work independently with no or limited supervision
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Office applications
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; organizational skills
  • One to three years' experience manufacturing experience with understanding of environmental and safety processes and hands-on experience in environmental and safety compliance activities
  • Must be able to lift 25 lbs.
  • Must be able to climb ladders
  • Must be able to transition through plant floors when at manufacturing plants on regular basis
  • Must be able to wear mandatory PPE in plant environments (hard hat, safety eyewear, hearing protection, safety shoes and safety clothes, etc. when required)
  • Subject to atmospheric conditions, including, but not limited to, exposure to dust, chemicals, and odors
  • Must present the knowledge, confidence and ability to take immediate and appropriate action when an 'imminent risk of serious injury' has been identified
