Industrial Refrigeration Technician

Job Summary
Perform routine inspections and scheduled preventive maintenance on industrial refrigeration systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation. Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair compressors, condensers, evaporators, valves, pumps, piping, and controls while monitoring temperatures, pressures, and refrigerant levels to prevent equipment failures. Respond promptly to breakdowns and emergency situations, coordinate with vendors and internal departments, and complete work orders documenting all maintenance activities. Identify refrigerant leaks and take corrective action in accordance with safety and environmental procedures, maintaining technical documentation and adhering to all regulatory requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Technical degree, diploma, or certification in Refrigeration Systems, HVAC, Industrial Maintenance, Electromechanics, or a related technical field.
- Minimum 2–3 years of hands-on experience maintaining industrial refrigeration systems.
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams, mechanical drawings, blueprints, and technical schematics.
- Ability to work independently and respond effectively to equipment failures and emergency situations.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with industrial refrigeration systems utilizing ammonia (NH3), CO2, and/or fluorinated refrigerants.
- Refrigerant handling certification, as required by applicable regulations.
- Experience working within a food manufacturing or other regulated manufacturing environment.
- Experience with PLC-controlled equipment and automation systems.
- Familiarity with SCADA and refrigeration monitoring/control systems.
