Job Summary
Perform thorough surface preparation on large-scale steel weldments, including sanding, masking, and chemical cleaning. Mix industrial-grade coatings, primers, and catalysts to exact ratios while controlling flash times and finish hardness. Operate advanced spray guns and pressure pots to apply protective and aesthetic finishes on heavy machinery. Execute final detailing by aligning and applying custom vinyl graphics and branding decals. Safely operate overhead bridge cranes to transport and position massive steel structures through prep and paint bays. Manage paint kitchen inventory and perform preventative maintenance on booth filtration systems and spray guns. Work alongside fabrication teams to meet production timelines while adhering to 5S cleanliness and safety protocols.
Required Qualifications
- US Citizen or Green Card holder
- Ability to pass respirator fit-testing/medical clearance
- Reside within a daily commute of Duluth, MN / Superior, WI
- Minimum 1+ year of Auto Body Schooling OR equivalent hands-on Industrial/Automotive liquid spray painting experience
- Direct proficiency with paint mixing ratios, mil-thickness verification, flash times, and chemical curing for industrial-grade wet paints
- 1+ year of liquid spray experience utilizing automotive wet paints, high-durability industrial coatings, or completion of a formal Auto Body / Collision Repair program
- Understanding of paint viscosity, mixing ratios, mil-thickness testing, flash times, and surface prep methods to prevent runs, sags, or orange peel
- Ability or willingness to learn overhead bridge crane operation
- Ability to pass standard medical clearance and respirator fit-testing
- A sharp eye for finishing aesthetics and commitment to flawless surface preparation on high-value equipment
- A dependable, steady work history demonstrating long-term tenure and multi-year commitment with prior employers
- Residing within a comfortable daily commuting radius of the Greater Duluth, MN / Superior, WI area
