Job Summary

Attend to and follow up on occupational injuries and illnesses, providing immediate medical attention for serious cases and preventive treatments like wrapping or paraffin wax for minor incidents. Initiate accident reports, fill out necessary paperwork, and perform post-employment physicals while documenting all procedures in the Nurse's notes. Monitor AED status, inventory supplies, and assist the Safety Department with annual hearing testing. Enforce food safety measures including SQF and GMPs, and relieve security guards for breaks by verifying authorized personnel. Maintain an excellent attendance record and respond to on-call rotations, which may require working weekends or unscheduled hours.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • six to twelve months related experience and/or training
  • Licensed as an LPN, RN or other designation as deemed sufficient by the Medical Director
  • EMT, LPN, RN or other as designated by the Medical Director
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form

  • Must be available in the Nurse's Station to attend to and follow up on occupational injuries and illnesses and provide emergency medical assistance as needed
  • Provides preventive treatment as needed to plant workers

  • Follows-up on light duty personnel to ensure that doctor's orders are being followed
  • Initiates accident reports and forwards to the proper personnel
  • Fills out paperwork and reports as needed
  • Files paperwork as needed or directed
  • Performs non-DOT drug and alcohol testing following Company policy
  • Assists the Safety Department during the annual hearing testing and in the follow up to the testing
  • Documents all medical procedures in the Nurse's notes
  • Monitors AED status; performs periodic tests and reports results to Nursing Supervisor
  • Inventories and/or orders supplies as assigned
  • Opens band-aids as needed
  • Keeps Nurse's Station clean and neat
  • Helps enforce food safety measures such as SQF including GMPs
  • Maintains an excellent attendance record
  • Notifies the Nurse Supervisor as soon as possible of any absences
  • Checks with other facility Nurses to fill in for absences
  • On call as needed
  • answers the phone and/or pager
  • stay within one hour's travel of the assigned Nurse's Station
  • responds when called
  • Working on weekends or other normally unscheduled hours may be mandatory if staffing cannot be provided through temporary agencies or other Bachoco USA Nurses
  • Relieves security guards for breaks, unless providing immediate medical care
  • Verifies only authorized employees to enter the facility
  • Fills out information for trucks entering and leaving the facility
  • Notifies applicable personnel when vendors enter the facility
