Job Summary
Perform corrective actions and procedures on repairing and installing equipment and utilities under general supervision. Maintain filters, keep work areas clean, and align pumps, motors, and gear drives. Change mill and caster rolls, readies equipment for start-up, and performs routine maintenance on gas, diesel, and electric industrial trucks. Maintain records for piping, equipment relocation, and gas, oil, and water meters. Use hand and power tools in accordance with safety practices, maintain hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and assemble bearings. Report machinery malfunctions, safety hazards, and property misuse to the supervisor. Works a 21-Turn Swing Shift rotating days, evenings, and midnights.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Certificate from a secondary technical or vocational school
- Three to six months of related experience and/or training
- Equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
- Ability to write simple correspondence
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization
- Ability to acquire basic computer skills to enter and extract information from computer
- Ability to use measuring equipment such as micrometer and tape
- Working knowledge of lubricants and their proper uses in filters, oil reservoirs and grease fittings
- Ability to learn alignment procedures for various types of equipment
- Understand and able to apply knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to interpret graphic representations
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
- Working knowledge of problem solving skills and ability to apply them in a reasonable manner
- Ability to regularly stand
- Ability to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Ability to frequently walk
- Ability to use hands to finger, handle, or feel
- Ability to climb or balance
- Ability to talk or hear
