Job Summary
Repairs and maintains mechanical, air, electrical, and hydraulic components of processing, blow molding, filling, and material handling equipment using hand tools, power tools, welders, and precision measuring instruments. Visually inspects machines to locate malfunctions, dismantles equipment to access problem areas, and replaces worn parts following blueprints, wiring diagrams, and service manuals. Performs brazing, soldering, and welding on broken parts, modifies computer-controlled functions, and starts equipment to test repairs. Works in extreme temperatures ranging from over 100 degrees to below zero, in wet and humid environments, requiring bending, crawling, climbing, and working at various heights. Follows written and verbal instructions to fill out reports and maintain a safe, clean work area.
Required Qualifications
- Must be able to arc and heli arc weld
- Must possess extensive experience with 3-phase wiring
- Must possess extensive experience with electrical controls
- Must possess extensive experience with programmable controllers
- Must possess strong trouble shooting abilities
- Must be able to work in both very hot (more than 100 degrees) and very cold (20 degrees below zero) and in a very wet and humid environment for extended periods of time
- Must be able to bend, crawl, climb, squat, and work on times both above the head and at ground level during repair and maintenance operations
- Must be able to follow both written and verbal instructions
- Must be able to follow blueprint, wiring diagrams and service manuals
- Must be able to fill out written reports
