Job Summary
Industrial Maintenance Mechanic (Millwright) or Industrial Electrician to maintain the belt conveyors and sortation systems at the Caledon Automated Hub. Responsibilities include repairing/replacing mechanical components (motors, reducers, drive chains, sprockets, pulleys, rollers, conveyors), performing preventive maintenance on conveyors and conveyance/sortation equipment, troubleshooting and replacing parts for automated parcel sortation equipment, inspecting and repairing pneumatic and hydraulic equipment, welding for supports and equipment, and reading technical drawings/equipment manuals. Must have Grade 12 education or equivalent and a valid 433A Millwright or 442A Industrial Electrician certification, with 3+ years post-apprenticeship experience on conveyors. Strong communication skills, ability to coordinate via radio, and familiarity with building schematics and basic computer skills are required. The role includes paid training, union environment, and benefits typical of a permanent UPS position.
Required Qualifications
- Grade 12 education or equivalent
- Valid 433A Millwright or 442A Industrial Electrician Certification of Qualification
- Extensive relevant experience working with conveyor & sortation equipment, or welding certification
- Ability to read/interpret technical drawings and equipment manuals
- 3 years of post-apprenticeship experience performing maintenance on conveyor equipment
- Ability to communicate effectively, convey & receive instruction, and coordinate with partners over the radio in an industrial environment
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Experience working in high-pressure environments
- Knowledge of building schematics & drawings is an asset
- Knowledge of the keyboard and basic computer skills is an asset
