Maintain high-speed production equipment for Abbott Nutrition products, performing non-repetitive mechanical repairs, troubleshooting fluid and utility systems, and executing fabrication, machining, and welding tasks. Document all work completion while adhering to FDA, OSHA, and Abbott compliance standards. This Multi-Craft Mechanic III role supports the Altavista, VA plant's manufacturing of brands like Similac and Ensure, requiring a high school diploma, mechanical aptitude, and knowledge of hydraulic systems. Base pay ranges from $20.85 to $41.75/hour for this 3rd shift position.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Understanding of mechanical systems
- Mechanical and spatial aptitude
- Good math and writing skills
- Knowledge of hydraulic and fluid systems
- Knowledge of proper lubrication procedures with oil and grease
- Ability to meet compliance standards including FDA, OSHA and Abbott policies and procedures
- Must be able to lift, carry, push or pull weights of more than 20 pounds/9 kilos on a regular/daily basis
- Must be able to perform awkward/forceful/repetitive movements (arms above shoulder, bent wrists)
- Must be able to sit for prolonged periods (more than 2 consecutive hours in an 8 hour day)
- Must be able to stand for prolonged periods (more than 2 consecutive hours in an 8 hour day)
- Must be able to walk for prolonged periods (more than 2 hours at a time in an 8 hour day)
