Job Summary
Industrial Hygiene Technician position in Charleston, SC focusing on hazardous building material assessments (asbestos, lead-based paint) and indoor air quality concerns (mold). Responsibilities include air monitoring during asbestos abatement, preparing field reports and client data summaries, maintaining/calibrating monitoring equipment, and contributing to quality control programs. Opportunities range from entry-level training with mentorship to senior-level leadership of project teams and large-scale assessments. Requirements include relevant certifications (Asbestos Air Monitor/Inspector, Lead Inspector/Risk Assessor, OSHA HAZWOPER 40hr), an associate degree or equivalent, strong English communication, and the ability to perform field sampling, data analysis, and equipment maintenance. Required Qualifications
- Associate Technician: training provided
- Technician I: 1+ years of relevant experience OR equivalent experience, with an associate degree in a related field
- Technician II: 3+ years of relevant experience OR equivalent experience, with an associate degree in a related field
- Technician III: 5+ years of relevant experience; mentoring junior staff a plus
- Associate's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience a plus
- Asbestos Air Monitor and/or Asbestos Inspector accreditation
- Lead Inspector or Risk Assessor
- OSHA HAZWOPER 40hr
- Attention to detail and good communication skills in English
- Ability to operate/adjust a light microscope
- Strong math skills for asbestos sample analysis
