Job Summary
Conduct field inspections, abatement monitoring, and air sampling for asbestos, lead, mold, and indoor air quality projects across commercial, industrial, and public facilities in Southern California. Manage onsite analysis, provide detailed written and electronic project field notes, and communicate daily with project managers, contractors, and clients to ensure satisfactory performance. Travel to project locations daily, with potential for overnight stays, while adhering to flexible schedules that may include nights, weekends, and extended hours beyond 8 hours. Perform self-performed tasks requiring physical ability to lift 30 lbs, climb ladders, and wear negative pressure respirators.
Required Qualifications
- Valid state of California Certified Site Surveillance Technician (CSST) asbestos credential
- Valid state of California Lead Sampling Technician credential
- Experience in consulting environment with lead-paint, hazardous building materials management, indoor air quality, mold evaluations, and ventilation system assessments
- High School Diploma or GED
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 lbs. of equipment over the duration of a work shift
- Must be able to climb and descend a ladder
- Valid driver's license, clean driving record
- Must be able to clear background check, pass medical exam and be medically cleared to wear negative pressure respirator
- Must be able to travel to project locations in the greater Southern California area on a daily basis
- Must be able to travel longer distances, with the potential for overnight stays, as required
- Employees are expected to be flexible as work hours may include nights and weekends, or extended work beyond 8 hours depending on the project
- Ability to work on teams as well as independently with minimal direct supervision
Desired Qualifications
- State of California Lead Sampling Technician preferred
- AS or BS in physical sciences or industrial hygiene, safety, environmental sciences, or related science or engineering fields
- General understanding of HVAC systems, building mechanical systems, building construction
- General understanding of building renovation and demolition
- CDPH Lead Inspector, Assessor, or Project Monitor
- NIOSH 582 certification or equivalent certification
- OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER
- OSHA 30-hour Construction
- Experience with Microsoft products such as Word, Excel, Outlook
- Problem-solving skills: able to identify problems and implement corrective processes
- Strong communication, skills both written and verbal
- Ability to take ownership of assigned work and contribute to the success of the team. This includes the ability self-perform work, prioritize schedule, communicate with project team as needed, produce on time, high-quality documentation and be responsive to phone and email requests
- The willingness to learn new digital technologies for field services
