Industrial Generator Technician

Job Summary

Perform mechanical, electrical troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and repair of generators during normal and after-hours shifts. Detect faulty operations, defective material, and unusual situations, then report findings to the service manager. Stays current on NFPA and State regulations for EPSS while traveling locally for service calls with a 50% travel requirement including overnight rotations. Requires a valid driver's license and experience servicing Kohler, CAT, Cummins, or similar engine brands.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 4 years servicing and troubleshooting emergency power supply systems (EPSS)
  • Working knowledge of mechanical design, AC and DC circuitry, power generation, wiring schematics, and connection diagrams
  • Advanced knowledge of Engine maintenance and troubleshooting of natural gas or diesel fuel systems
  • Valid driver's license
  • Bring your generator or engine experience—Kohler, CAT, Cummins, Katolight, MTU, Briggs & Stratton, Yanmar, Perkins, or Deutz
  • Must comply with the assigned location PPE requirements including but not limited to safety glasses, hearing protection, appropriate gloves, clothing, and shields for required tasks and closed toed or safety shoes as required by facility safety policies
