Job Summary
Conduct routine electrical troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and repair on water and wastewater treatment equipment, including ozone generators, chemical systems, and variable frequency drives. Coordinate with operations personnel to ensure critical assets remain operational and assist other departments during emergency repairs. Perform all maintenance tasks per equipment manuals, locate root causes of malfunctions, and maintain work records in the computerized management system. Prioritize safe work practices, including lock out tag out and confined space entry, while mentoring apprentices. Work a rotating schedule of Sundays through Tuesdays and alternate Wednesdays from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with on-call availability for outside-hours repairs.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of two years of experience as an Electrician in an industrial setting
- Must possess a valid Electrical Journeyman's license or obtain an Electrical Journeyman's license with the State of Texas within 24 months
- Must possess a high school diploma or GED
- Must be knowledgeable of electrical theory and practices
- Must be knowledgeable of safety pertaining to electrical distribution systems and equipment
- Must be knowledgeable in the use of electrical diagnostic tools and equipment and interpretation of results
- Must be able to safely and efficiently perform repairs to electrical distribution systems and equipment based on interpretation of testing, trouble shooting in order to return equipment to working status
- Must become proficient in the use of the District Computerized Maintenance Management System
- Must have the ability to comprehend, carry out and administer written and oral instruction
- Must have the ability to read and understand technical manuals, drawings and one-line diagrams, operations and maintenance manuals, schematics, blueprints and safety data sheets
- Must be able to work overtime when needed
- Must be able to work outside of normal business hours
- Must be able to drive a District vehicle for business
- Must maintain a current, valid, and vehicle-appropriate driver's license of their resident state
- Must be able to handle heavy physical exertion with lifting requirements from 10 to 70 pounds daily
- Must be able to push, pull, climb ladders and work at heights and in confined spaces including trenches and above and below ground
- Must be able to work in apparatus at height, scissor lift etc
- Must be able to work in high voltage areas
- Must be able to work in weather, odor, noise, chemical hazards, gases and dust
- Must be able to use small hand and power tools, electrical and testing equipment
- Must be able to participate in a regular twelve-hour shift schedule
- Must be able to work on a rotational ONCALL status
- Must attend all required trainings as directed
- Must prioritize safe work practices
- Must demonstrate safe work practices on job sites
- Must be able to use proper safety equipment and procedures, including permit required confined space entry and lock out tag out
- Must maintain records of work performed on assets and provide follow-up reports within the work order management system
- Must be able to identify electrical hazards
- Must be able to troubleshoot and remedy problems using independent judgment
- Must be able to provide work site coaching and mentorship to apprentices and assistants
