Job Summary
Senior Industrial Designer within the Interiors Engineering team responsible for conceptual design of seating systems, cabin furnishings, and interior components for aircraft. Drive production-ready designs balancing form, function, ergonomics, and manufacturability; develop CMF selections; create hand sketches, digital renderings, models, and prototypes; ensure Cirrus Visual Brand Language is consistently applied; collaborate with engineers, product managers, manufacturing, certification, and customer experience teams; gather design requirements from stakeholders and customers; conduct rapid prototyping and user testing to refine decisions and optimize fit, finish, and usability; maintain strong portfolio and communicate design solutions effectively.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design or related discipline
- Minimum of 4-7 years of progressive design experience
- Prior experience in aviation, automotive, or marine interiors preferred
- Demonstrated track record of launching production-ready products with strong user and business impact
- Strong portfolio showcasing innovative, real-world design outcomes
- Advanced skills in visual storytelling, sketching, and rendering
- Deep understanding of CMF selection for regulated environments
- Proficiency in CAID software such as Autodesk Alias, Rhino, ICEM Surf, or Adobe Creative Suite
- Familiarity with CAD and PLM tools (e.g., PTC Creo and Windchill)
- Class A surfacing capabilities are considered a strong plus
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Ability to balance design vision with technical and business constraints
- Highly collaborative, curious, and adaptable in a fast-paced development environment
