Job Summary
Industrial Designer II at Klein Tools focused on concept ideation and user-centered design across multiple product categories. Under mentorship, responsibilities include discovery research, data visualization, problem framing, sketching, 3D rendering/CAD, and prototyping; collaborating with engineering, product management, CAD designers, and cross-functional teams to turn customer needs and ergonomics into innovative product solutions. Outputs include design concepts and industrial design specifications, documentation for product records, and adherence to product specifications, quality, cost goals, and manufacturing standards. Essential skills include sketching, SolidWorks, 3D modeling, CMF understanding, and proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite and KeyShot; familiarity with VOCs, human factors/ergonomics, and manufacturing processes. The role requires 1.5 to 4 years of experience, a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, strong teamwork, and the ability to travel internationally (approx. 10% travel; 3 days per month). Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Design
- 1.5 to 4 years Industrial Design experience
- Proficiency with SolidWorks and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat Pro)
- KeyShot proficiency preferred
- Good sketching and traditional industrial design skills
- Ability to create 3D models and prototypes
- Understanding of customer needs and ergonomics
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
