Job Summary

Industrial Designer to drive manufacturable product development for Brunton’s outdoor, military, and geology lines. Responsibilities include creating and revising CAD/SolidWorks drawings, updating BOMs and routings in ERP, providing vendor CAD/layout files, redesigning packaging for durability and eco-friendly materials, prototyping and testing, developing manufacturing processes, and supporting product launches with design assets and technical details. Must balance creativity with manufacturing constraints, apply a heritage-brand design language, and contribute to branding and apparel/merchandise production. Proficiency in CAD (SolidWorks), Adobe Illustrator, understanding of materials and manufacturing processes, and experience with ERP systems (NetSuite) are required or strongly preferred. A Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design or related field plus a strong design portfolio is requested; experience designing outdoor gear and working with manufacturing partners is valued.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Mechanical Engineering, or related field; equivalent experience may be considered
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating successful product design, 3D modeling, prototyping, and packaging design
  • Proficiency in CAD software, preferably SolidWorks, with ability to create drawings, renderings, assemblies, and explosion diagrams

  • Ability to balance creativity with manufacturing limitations, cost, and product performance
  • Strong communication, organization, and project management skills
  • Familiarity with ERP systems, especially NetSuite
  • Experience designing outdoor gear, compasses, technical instruments, or other hard goods
  • Experience with injection molding, CNC machining, textiles, plastics, metal fabrication, adhesives, or precision assemblies
  • Experience designing products that must perform in rugged environments
  • Prototype experience using 3D printing as well as industrial machine shop tools
  • Collaborative and positive team player who is able to take and give directions
  • Experience working with supply chain teams to push new parts to vendors
  • Experience with product launches and packaging concepts
  • Experience with branding and visual identity at product level
  • Experience with custom pad print or laser engraving projects
