Job Summary
Lead system diagnostics and support for complex electronic control systems, PLC networks, and high-speed drive systems to maximize facility asset availability. Execute precise PLC programming modifications, logic upgrades, and routine program optimizations using Allen-Bradley and Siemens development suites. Implement and refine SCADA solutions to enhance real-time data acquisition and plant-wide network connectivity. Drive continuous improvement projects and control system designs by engineering control layouts for custom-built machinery. Partner cross-functionally across the shop floor during capital equipment installations while upholding rigorous facility safety benchmarks and 5S organizational standards. Operate within a shared, predictable technical on-call rotation in an expanding manufacturer renowned for employment security and zero layoffs.
Required Qualifications
- Associate Degree in Industrial Automation, Electronics, Mechatronics, or a closely related engineering technology discipline
- 5+ Years Automation & Controls Depth: Verifiable background managing industrial automation controls, system integration, or senior electro-mechanical maintenance in a manufacturing plant
- Hands-on experience navigating, editing, and configuring Allen-Bradley (Studio 5000/Logix) and Siemens (TIA Portal) hardware, industrial networks, and HMI panels
- Flawless competency reading, interpreting, and tracing highly complex engineering documents, multi-page machine schematics, and electrical diagrams
- Comprehensive working knowledge of single/three-phase power distribution, AC/DC variable frequency drives (VFDs), advanced pneumatics, and hydraulic circuits
- Residence established within a comfortable, daily 45-minute commuting radius of the Greater Milwaukee / North Shore area
- US Citizenship or Green Card holder status
Desired Qualifications
- Prior experience working in high-speed processing environments (such as paper converting, commercial printing, continuous web manufacturing, or automated packaging lines)
- Hands-on setup and troubleshooting of multi-axis servo drives and precision motion controllers
- Practical experience setting up Ethernet/IP, PROFINET, or PROFIBUS communication architectures
- Deep expertise commissioning and tuning high-speed AC/DC drives for continuous web or high-speed web handling applications
