Job Summary
Indonesian Reviewer/Editor/Certifier to support DOJ Linguistic Support Services with translation, interpretation, transcription of diverse material, including legal documents and media with terminology across medical, chemical, financial, historical, military, and other domains. Responsibilities include translating documents and media, conducting court/deposition interpretation, preserving tone/register, ensuring terminology accuracy, and maintaining strict confidentiality. Requires extensive experience (5+ years) in the language, ILR 4+, U.S. residency in the last 5 years, and US citizenship; proficiency with CAT tools (SDL Trados Studio) and knowledge of formal/legal vocabulary; ability to handle sensitive material and comply with ethics. Remote work available with National Capital Region/CONUS locations and some travel.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in the required language and superior English editing skills
- ILR 4 minimum or equivalent on language/translation tests
- Must have lived 3 of the last 5 years in the U.S. (not necessarily consecutive)
- At least 1 year of experience with a law enforcement and/or legal department
- U.S. citizen
- Strong vocabulary in formal, legal, diplomatic, consultative, and casual contexts in both English and the foreign language
- Knowledge of specialized vocabulary in English and the foreign language related to government roles and missions
- Fluent writing in native language with professional command of non-native language
- Translation must be factually and conceptually accurate without changes/omissions/additions
- Preserve tone and register of source materials
- Adherence to linguist ethics
- Proficiency with CAT tools, SDL Trados Studio
- Active Public Trust or higher security clearance
- Location: Remote / National Capitol Region / Various CONUS Locations
- Travel: Some travel may be required
