Job Summary
Develop and implement a comprehensive individual giving strategy to support ALC's annual and long-term fundraising goals. Identify, build, and manage a portfolio of individual donors and prospects across giving levels, prioritizing cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, and retention. Expand the donor base beyond the Bay Area by building statewide and national fundraising strategies and relationships. Cultivate and steward a robust donor community, including alumni, by coordinating engagement with leadership, program staff, and board members. Prepare solicitation materials, support donor meetings and events, and track donor activity to strengthen revenue forecasting. Lead the Director of Alumni Relations and Development Associate with clear accountability and effective work plan implementation. Manage the budget and resources to support fundraising objectives and organizational mission.
Required Qualifications
- At least eight (8) years of experience in individual giving, major gifts, annual giving, or related fundraising work, preferably in a nonprofit, advocacy, or social justice organization
- Demonstrated success cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding individual donors
- Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to engage a wide range of donors, colleagues, and stakeholders with warmth, credibility, and discretion
- Experience helping to build or grow fundraising strategies, systems, or programs, especially in evolving or capacity-constrained environments
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, follow through on details, and work independently
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Comfort working collaboratively across teams and with senior leaders, board members, and external supporters
- Experience using donor databases and moves management systems to track engagement and support strategy
- Strong judgment, initiative, and the ability to work thoughtfully in a new role with significant ownership and autonomy
- Demonstrated commitment to racial justice, immigrant justice, and working in alignment with communities directly impacted by systemic inequality
- Must be able to work in our San Francisco office two days a week
- Must be available for occasional evening and weekend work
- Must be available for local, statewide, and domestic travel
Desired Qualifications
- Familiarity with the Bay Area philanthropic landscape
- Experience with statewide or national individual fundraising
- Knowledge of or connection to Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander communities
