Job Summary
Provide issue-based advocacy support to people with disability living in the Gympie area, assisting clients in decision-making, complaints, legal access, and referrals via face-to-face and telephone. Engage with local networks to promote services and support intake and referral processes during high demand. Navigate feedback and complaints while applying trauma-informed and culturally competent practice. You must reside in Gympie with access to a private home workspace, demonstrating understanding of disability rights legislation and experience using client management systems. This role is vital for promoting human rights under the National and Queensland Disability Advocacy Programs.
Required Qualifications
- You reside in Gympie
- demonstrated understanding of disability rights and relevant legislation
- experience supporting clients in distress and navigating feedback and complaints
- commitment to trauma-informed and culturally competent practice
- exceptional communication skills
- experience using a client management system and managing client files and information
- access to a suitable and private home workspace that supports confidentiality and productivity
