Indirect Tax Specialist (GST) Senior Associate/Manager | Tax, Reporting and Innovation

Job Summary

Offer professional guidance on indirect tax consequences for transactions and manage complex GST projects. Build client relationships to support reporting obligations and respond to regulator reviews, including engaging directly with the Australian Taxation Office on GST issues. Identify risk areas through assurance and due diligence reviews while assisting the tax technology team with data and automation services. Simplify complex tax concepts for clients and mentor junior team members. Work collaboratively across the Indirect Tax team to deliver solutions for diverse industries, applying strong technical knowledge of Australian GST legislation and M&A governance.

Required Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience in GST/indirect tax advisory and compliance
  • Strong technical knowledge of Australian GST legislation, including areas such as financial services, property transactions, digital services and cross-border supplies
  • Experience with GST governance, M&A/Deals work, tax technology and ATO engagement
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex tax concepts to clients
  • Proven project management capabilities and ability to work autonomously
  • Experience mentoring junior team members and contributing to business development activities
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications (accounting, commerce, law)
  • A keen interest in technology and an understanding of the benefits of automation
  • Client-focused mindset with demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong professional relationships
  • Australian Tax experience

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience mentoring junior team members and contributing to business development activities will be highly valued
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications (accounting, commerce, law) qualifications preferred
