Job Summary
Prepare state, local, and provincial sales/use tax returns, property tax filings, and business license documents while conducting research on tax laws and regulations. Verify general ledger sales tax accrual accounts, monthly divisional data, and exempt customer documentation to ensure accurate storage and freight setup. Lead tax audits, process sales tax refund claims, and administer taxing requirements for all customers. Assist with Sarbanes-Oxley compliance and tax-planning projects, recognizing and resolving tax issues to make recommendations. Maintain an in-depth knowledge of state sales tax legislation and current developments.
Required Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, or Finance
- A minimum of 3 years of work experience in the business or financial field
- Must be able to consistently identify critical elements, variables, and alternatives to develop solutions
- Must be able to organize/prioritize existing resources and incorporate new information, as needed, to implement the most effective solutions
- Able to apply excellent business acumen and collaborative skills when resolving problems
- Able to apply excellent functional computer knowledge in utilizing Microsoft Windows, MAC, or other technical tools in completing assignments
- Requires excellent communication skills with the ability to state messages clearly that are easy for others to understand
- Able to explain program policies and procedures clearly so that are understood by others
- Requires a strong understanding of the impact of a message on the organization or customer
