Job Summary

Indigent interviews for the Public Defender’s office and related courts; assist the public, answer phones, attend court proceedings, and create/maintain Excel reports. Manage payments, contracts, attorney complaints, and invoices; verify assets on applications; respond to inmate letters; prepare appointment orders for judges; enter attorney information in ICON and daily entries of appearance for criminal cases; prepare and mail approval/denial letters to defendants; coordinate daily emails to jail for inmate interviews; complete filing for defendants’ files; track indigent defense coverage for State Court proceedings; prepare calendars and attend state and superior court proceedings; prepare, send, and track new Public Defender clients; maintain Public Defender reports and deposit reports; help track attorney invoices and Excel reports; requires regular predictable attendance and related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice, Paralegal Studies, Public Relations, Marketing, Business Administration, Psychology, or related field is required. Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Three years of office experience and/or any combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge and skills.
  • Must be proficient in using Microsoft Office.
