Job Summary
Collaborate with WFN staff and multidisciplinary professionals to support Indigenous children ages 3–19 with developmental needs, ensuring full participation in activities. Provide consultation, training, and referrals to parents and caregivers while creating Individual Service Plans that strengthen each child's Circle of Support. Conduct developmental screenings, determine eligibility levels, and maintain comprehensive electronic files and provincial reports. Assist with transitions to kindergarten and other educational settings, all within a flexible schedule. This term role ends March 31, 2026, with a median salary of $61,656.73. Preference is given to WFN Members and Indigenous applicants.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in early childhood development, Child and Youth Care, Psychology, Social Work, Education, Human Services, or a related field
- Early Childhood Education (ECE) Certificate with Special Needs Designation
- Minimum of three (3) years of related work experience, including working with children with additional support needs
- Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search, results acceptable to WFN
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driver's abstract with access to a reliable vehicle
- Valid First Aid with CPR Level B
- Meets all immunization and tuberculosis screening requirements in accordance with provincial legislation and program requirements
- Ability to develop and maintain a warm, caring, responsive relationship with children and families
- Ability to establish and maintain supportive, collaborative relationships with families, childcare setting staff, child development professionals, and colleagues
- Working knowledge of trauma-informed, family-centered, and inclusive practice
- Intermediate level of proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Ability to work individually and as part of a team with minimal supervision
- Ability to use a cultural safety framework when working with Indigenous children, families, and communities
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working with indigenous communities/children considered an asset
