Job Summary
Implement portfolio engineering algorithms in Python for index investment processes, focusing on construction, optimization, trading, and risk management workflows. Maintain the Algo ecosystem using engineering principles while integrating these tools into the BlackRock technology platform. Apply quantitative analysis and statistical techniques to improve operational efficiency, identifying opportunities for process improvement through data analytics. Partner with Portfolio Managers and technologists to design robust, extensible code that supports scale, utilizing the Scientific Python stack for large-scale data processing. Leverage AI to enhance decision-making and operational outcomes within the Index Equity team, which manages over $7.5 trillion in global index equity assets.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of relevant experience in Python programming/Algo engineering/Quantitative Development
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree or equivalent experience in computer science/engineering/quantitative field with strong computing skills
- Programming skills in Python
- Java with strong object-oriented skills
- Experience with SDLC including agile development methodologies, writing tests before code, version control and CI/CD tools
- Knowledge of Scientific Python stack
- Experience in dealing with large data sets and statistical processing
- Experience in applying mathematics and statistical techniques to tackle complex problems
- Experience working in investment management, trading or finance related fields
- Knowledge of equity risk models
- Excellent analytical, problem solving skills, attention to detail and an emphasis on precision
- Great teammate with high level of self-motivation and inquisitiveness
- Effective communication skills
- High degree of professional integrity, discretion and judgement
- Employees are currently required to work at least 4 days in the office per week, with the flexibility to work from home 1 day a week
