Job Summary
Independent Living Specialist responsibilities include managing an assigned caseload of residents in a Community Residence, meeting with clients at least weekly, making referrals to medical, mental health and substance abuse services, providing supportive counseling, conducting regular client room visits to ensure a safe environment, teaching activities of daily living, completing housing applications and service plans, ensuring clinical files are up to date, assisting with intake/admission, participating in community meetings, and providing emergency first aid/CPR when needed. The role is based in Manhattan, NY, with full-time hours (37.5 per week, Tuesday–Saturday 3pm–11:30pm) and requires HS diploma/GED with significant experience in the target population; a BA is preferred. Skills include excellent writing, basic computer literacy, and CPR training or willingness to obtain it. Benefits include health insurance, paid time off, and a comprehensive package.
