Job Summary
Independent Living Specialist responsible for all aspects of an assigned case load, meeting with clients regularly, ensuring clinical files and reports are complete, assisting residents with entitlements, securing housing and employment, building daily living skills, and facilitating groups within the Phase system under supervision. Responsibilities include coordinating housing interviews, arranging housing appointments, verifying employment and housing placement with the Retention Specialist, liaising with clinical staff across programs, providing emergency first aid/CPR, and supporting transitions to stable housing and self-sufficiency for homeless individuals served by the NYC Reception Center in Manhattan.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED required; bachelor's degree preferred and masters ideal
- Excellent communication and writing skills
- Computer proficiency
- Experience working in residential treatment and with the MICA and homeless populations preferred
- Knowledge of HRA and NY/NY application systems a plus
- CPR training certification or willingness to take training class in CPR
