Job Summary
Independent Living Instructor provides one-on-one instruction to adults with developmental disabilities across Contra Costa County, helping clients master essential life skills such as personal care, health maintenance, social engagement, and money management. Responsibilities include building strong relationships, teaching life skills with cultural sensitivity, assisting with appointments and community access (including transport), promoting independence and self-advocacy, and maintaining clear, timely records in collaboration with a supportive team. Schedule is flexible daytime hours (8:30am–6pm) with in-home/community-based duties.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid CA driver’s license
- Reliable insured vehicle and clean driving record
- Willingness to drive clients to appointments and activities
- Willingness to obtain CPR/First Aid certification (if not already certified)
- Ability to pass a background check
- At least 6 months of experience in human services or supporting people with disabilities
- Fluency in English or Spanish (bilingual preferred)
