Job Summary
Independent Living Instructor (ILS) provides one-on-one instruction to adults with developmental disabilities to help them reach personal goals of independence and community participation. The role involves teaching life skills in a motivating, personalized, and professional environment, managing a caseload of 5-9 clients across Alameda County, and supporting clients in money and medication management, basic cooking, using public transportation, locating affordable housing, and obtaining/maintaining benefits (e.g., Social Security, Medi-Cal, Medicare). The position is full-time (40 hours/week), with a schedule Monday–Friday from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM (driving time included). Compensation is $26.78/hour. The organization emphasizes social justice, nonprofit work, and opportunities for training, along with a comprehensive benefits package. Located in Oakland, Emeryville, Berkeley, San Leandro, Hayward, Castro Valley, and Dublin, CA.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Two years of experience in human services (preferred)
- Valid California driver's license
- Access to a reliable vehicle
- Mileage reimbursement for on-the-job driving
