Job Summary
Review and process survey documentation for prospective candidates, conduct community tours to explain available services, and independently manage a weekly schedule for 8–12 residents with flexibility for evening and weekend hours. Build relationships with residents' natural support systems, participate in Service Plan meetings, and collaborate via electronic and verbal communication to monitor progress. Educate residents on essential life skills including meal planning, financial literacy, housekeeping, and personal hygiene while advocating for fair treatment in all community settings. Respond promptly to routine and emergency resident issues, provide reliable transportation using organization-owned vehicles for community inclusion, and engage in ongoing professional development. Maintain appropriate dress, hygiene, and professionalism while adhering to all policies and directives.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- At least an Associate's degree with a major in nursing, education, social/public health science
- 1 year of experience in social/public health science
- Experience can be substituted for required college on a year-for-year basis
- At least 1 year of direct service to persons with intellectual and/or developmental differences
- Preferred experience in personal caregiving, personal companion and/or support coaching
- Must be 21 years or older
- Must be able to pass background clearance checks
- CPR/Basic First Aid Certification
- Human Trafficking & Fair Housing Training
- HIPAA Certification
- Mental Health First Aid Training
- Must be able to maintain appropriate dress, good hygiene and professionalism
- Must maintain a positive driving record for shuttle services
- Able to recognize safety concerns and to take the appropriate action
- Possess the emotional stability sufficient for performing all tasks related to the job including times of medical and behavioral crisis of residents
- Must be able to work non-traditional hours (e.g., evenings and weekends) as needed
- Must be able to independently manage and maintain a weekly schedule for an assigned caseload of 8–12 residents
- Must be able to respond promptly and appropriately to both routine and emergency resident issues with minimal supervision
- Must be able to provide reliable transportation using organization-owned vehicles
- Must be able to advocate for individuals with differences by ensuring they are treated fairly and appropriately in all community settings
- Must be able to support and educate residents in acquiring essential life skills
- Must be able to build and maintain strong relationships with each resident's natural support system
- Must be able to collaborate with residents, families, and staff through routine electronic and/or verbal communication
- Must be able to review and process survey information and documentation submitted by prospective candidates
- Must be able to conduct community tours for interested candidates and their families
- Must be able to participate in meetings and events such as Service Plan and Implementation Plan meetings
- Must be able to review and comply with all The Arc Jacksonville's policies, procedures and directives
- Must be able to review and comply with policies issued by the Agency for Persons with Disabilities
- Must be able to engage in ongoing professional development by participating in trainings
- Must be able to possess organization-owned vehicles for transportation
- Must be able to complete a background screening housed and managed by the Agency for Health Care Administration called the Florida Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse
