Job Summary
Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA) or Trainee IDVA based in Banbury, Oxfordshire. Provide trauma-informed support to adults experiencing domestic abuse, conduct risk assessments, develop personalised safety and support plans, and advocate with police, housing, health, and courts. For Trainee IDVA, follow a structured development plan with smaller initial caseload and close supervision, progressing to a qualified IDVA. Requires compassion, resilience, and strong communication; driving licence and ability to travel within the North/West Oxfordshire region is required. Eligible applicants may be qualified IDVAs or those with at least two years’ related experience; training and accreditation opportunities provided. The role involves collaboration within a high-risk team, participation in safeguarding processes (e.g., MARAC), and delivering practical and emotional support to survivors and their children.
Required Qualifications
- Qualified IDVAs, or candidates with a minimum two years’ experience in related field such as support work, housing, social care, youth work, criminal justice, mental health, substance use or advocacy.
Additional Requirements
- Must have full driver's licence and be located within reasonable travelling distance of North and West Oxfordshire.
