Job Summary
Independent Contractor - Mentor role for Software Architect track. Mentors provide online technical support to learners in their Nanodegree journey, meet weekly with students for community support and live office hours, and host one weekly live virtual session. Must have 5+ years of industry experience, fluent English, and deep expertise in TDD (Pytest), design patterns, microservices, cloud-native/serverless architectures, caching/CDN/data storage tradeoffs, architecture diagrams, distributed systems, ML architectures, and TOGAF/Zachman/SysML with SDLC. Responsibilities include assisting students on the online forum, answering questions around course content, facilitating content, and escalating issues to Mentor Operations as needed. The role emphasizes part-time engagement as an external contractor, with benefits including remote work from home, the opportunity to engage with an international student community, and exposure to cutting-edge technologies. Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of industry experience
- Fluency in English (written and spoken)
- Strong expertise in Test-Driven Development (TDD) including Pytest
- Deep understanding of design patterns and practical implementation in production systems
- Experience designing microservices, cloud-native, and serverless architectures
- Knowledge of caching strategies, CDN architecture, and data storage tradeoffs
- Ability to create and interpret architecture diagrams and system design documentation
- Familiarity with distributed systems and machine learning system architectures
- Systems engineering principles including requirements analysis, validation, and system integration
- Experience with architectural frameworks such as TOGAF, Zachman, or SysML, and SDLC
- Experience teaching technical concepts and public speaking
- Ability to work part-time as an external contractor
- Positive interpersonal skills and ability to engage with a global student community
