Job Summary
Independent Contract Editor for scholarly manuscript editing. Edit manuscripts originally written by non-native English speakers to ensure language quality for research communication. Remote positions available for editors based in the United States with a stable internet connection. Editors can select manuscripts based on their areas of expertise and are compensated based on manuscript length. Required to have native English proficiency and a Master’s degree, PhD, or professional degree in a relevant field, plus significant editing experience and an affiliation with a US-not-for-profit university or similar institution. Candidates should be autonomous, possess strong editing or technical writing skills, and be capable of partnering with in-house AI and automation to review automated edits and apply their expertise to ensure accuracy.
Required Qualifications
- Native English proficiency
- Master’s degree, PhD, or professional degree in a relevant field
- Significant experience editing papers in related field
- Affiliation with an accredited, not-for-profit college or university with English-language classes (degree, current enrollment, postdoctoral training, employment, or faculty appointment)
- Based in the United States (residents outside the United States are not eligible)
- Ability to partner with AI and automation for manuscript editing
