Job Summary
Perform visual and dimensional inspections of incoming materials, components, and sub-assemblies against purchase orders, blueprints, and specifications. Document results in quality management systems and logbooks while utilizing measurement tools like calipers, micrometers, gauges, and optical comparators. Identify non-conforming materials, quarantine them, and initiate corrective action requests or material review board processes. Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams to resolve discrepancies and improve supplier quality. This role is available through The Pivot Group Network for experienced technicians in the West Michigan manufacturing region.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Associate's degree in a technical field
- 1-3 years experience in quality control or incoming inspection within a manufacturing environment
- Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications
- Demonstrated ability to use a variety of measurement tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, height gauges, CMM)
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify non-conforming materials
- Basic computer skills for data entry and report generation
Desired Qualifications
- GD&T
- Experience with CMM operation and/or programming
- Familiarity with PPAP submissions and requirements
- ASQ certification (e.g., CQT, CMQ/OE)
- Basic understanding of GD&T principles
- Experience with various metrology tools beyond basic gauges (e.g., optical comparators, vision systems)
