Incoming Inspection Technician - Kentwood Area

Job Summary

Perform visual and dimensional inspections of incoming materials, components, and sub-assemblies against specifications and drawings. Document inspection results accurately, including non-conformances, using designated forms and software. Initiate and follow up on Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) for rejected materials, coordinating with suppliers and internal teams. Utilize precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and optical comparators. Maintain inspection equipment and tools, ensuring proper calibration and functionality. Interpret and apply engineering drawings, blueprints, and quality standards to inspection processes. Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams to resolve material quality issues.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Associate's degree in a technical field
  • 1-3 years experience in quality control, inspection, or manufacturing
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical specifications
  • Proficiency in using various measuring tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, gauges)
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify non-conformances
  • Basic computer skills for data entry and report generation

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with AS9100 or other aerospace quality standards
  • CMM operation or programming experience
  • IPC-A-610 or J-STD-001 certification
  • Familiarity with Six Sigma or Lean manufacturing principles
  • Ability to read and interpret GD&T
