Job Summary
Incident Responder within Oregon Department of Transportation’s Delivery & Operations Division (Region 2, Warrenton). You will patrol roads in specialized emergency vehicles, identify traffic hazards, develop removal plans, and coordinate safe, expeditious hazard removal. Provide immediate response to incidents or hazardous situations, serve as on-scene leadership in situation assessment, traffic control, and coordination of incident response activities per the Incident Command System. Responsibilities include emergency medical assessment, coordinating tow requirements, removal of wreckage and HazMat containment, and implementing emergency traffic controls to optimize traffic movement. Work outdoors in all weather and traffic conditions, with potential extended hours and on-call requirements, including nights and weekends. Requires maintaining equipment and performing emergency road repairs as needed. Driving is essential; valid license and acceptable driving record required with pre-employment checks. No visa sponsorship offered. Salary within listed range is non-PERS monthly; increases may apply for certain eligibility. This role may involve working across multiple vacancies and regions within Oregon government.
Required Qualifications
- Two years of experience related to the duties of the position
- One year of this experience must include public safety or transportation related experience
- Driving is an essential function of this position
- Must have a valid US driver license and an acceptable driving record
- Pre-employment driving records checks will be conducted on final candidate(s)
- This position may require extended hours and being on call including nights and weekends
