Job Summary
In School Suspension Teacher responsibilities include supervising students assigned to the ISS program, helping students learn subject matter and skills, maintaining a safe, zero-tolerance environment, implementing PBIS, coordinating with instructional staff, selecting materials, and attending faculty meetings. The role requires an Alabama Professional Educator Certificate, ability to work with diverse populations, adherence to district policies, and completion of a background check. Required Qualifications
- Must hold a valid Alabama Professional Educator Certificate
- Background Check Required: fingerprints for background review
- Meets suitability criteria for employment as required by Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No. 2002-457
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong ability to work with diverse populations
- Good understanding of Lee County’s District Disciplinary Policies and Procedures
- Attend on a regular and predictable basis
- Ability to work harmoniously with instructional staff and follow instructions
- Uphold Board policies including anti-harassment program
- Report for duty and manage ISS duties with safety and order
- Implement PBIS and assist in maintaining discipline
- Collaborate with staff to plan activities and materials
- Nine-month contract (187 days)
- Maintain professional competence and participate in meetings
- Ability to perform physical demands as described (lifting, movement)
- Background check and suitability per HB 402 ACT 99-361 Alabama Legislature
