Job Summary
Provide a safe, structured learning environment where students receive conflict resolution and social/emotional strategies to return to their classrooms with a positive attitude. Assist with academic assignments provided by classroom teachers and hold students responsible for completing and correcting all work. Monitor students continuously within the ISS room, ensuring they remain there at all times without running errands or leaving the building. Maintain appropriate records, including attendance and assignment tracking, while admitting only students assigned by administrators. Collect and return teacher assignments without interrupting classroom instruction. Maintain confidentiality and uphold high professional conduct standards. When no students are assigned, follow other duties directed by administration.
Required Qualifications
- Two years college (48 hours minimum) including 9 hours of Mathematics and 9 hours of English
- Associate degree
- Higher education degree
- Pass the test stipulated by the Louisiana State Department of Education
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to students
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of students and/or parents
- Ability to regularly stand and talk or hear
- Ability to occasionally walk
- Ability to occasionally sit
- Ability to occasionally reach with hands and arms
- Ability to occasionally stoop, kneel, or crouch
- Ability to occasionally lift or move light weight
Desired Qualifications
- Some previous experience working with children
