Job Summary

Provide legal consultation to executive leadership, program leaders, and administrative staff on contracts, leases, labor and employment issues, and regulatory compliance. Review, draft, and negotiate legal documents while ensuring agency operations align with California and federal laws. Advise on employee relations, investigations, and disciplinary actions, serving as a liaison with outside counsel on litigation. Monitor legal changes, support risk management efforts, and assist with audits and regulatory inquiries. Offer guidance on governance, Board matters, and staff safety protocols, including incident reporting and corrective actions. Maintain confidential records and provide legal oversight for critical incidents. This at-will position requires a Juris Doctor and active California Bar membership, with a schedule of 24 hours weekly (3 days onsite) and compensation of $124,800 to $135,096.

Required Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
  • Active membership in the California State Bar
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of relevant legal experience
  • Ability to meet California State Bar requirements to serve as In-House Counsel (Registered)
  • California driver's license
  • Current vehicle insurance/registration
  • Reliable means of transportation capable of passing vehicle safety inspection if more than five years old (excluding two-wheeled transport)
  • Knowledge of employment and labor law
  • Knowledge of contract and business law
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements
  • Knowledge of legal research and analysis
  • Knowledge of HIPAA and patient confidentiality laws
  • Ability to analyze complex legal issues and provide recommendations
  • Ability to interpret and apply laws and regulations
  • Ability to communicate legal concepts clearly
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and sound judgment
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
