Job Summary
Draft, negotiate, and advise on agreements for confidentiality, leases, credit facilities, and interconnection matters. Advise on permitting, environmental, and regulatory issues at local, state, and federal levels. Form project and corporate entities, prepare resolutions, and manage interactions with external counsel while monitoring costs. Collaborate with commercial teams across feasibility, development, finance, and engineering to manage energy generation projects from early stages to commercial operations. Lead the legal team supporting the development and management of modern power infrastructure for a privately owned global developer focused on low-carbon renewable energy projects.
Required Qualifications
- qualified attorney
- 4-6 years experience
- good corporate and commercial experience
- exposure to the power industry
- excellent drafting and negotiating skills
- ability to write clearly and concisely
- ability to work directly, proactively and collaboratively with project teams
- ability to deal with matters in a timely manner
- confidence to highlight issues that need to be addressed
- experience in complicated commercial and corporate transactions
- ability to work independently and with minimal supervision
- ability to liaise confidently with senior management
- willingness to work outside his or her area(s) of expertise
- motivation to develop a broader legal skill set
Desired Qualifications
- some secured finance and/or M&A experience
- familiarity with project financing of infrastructure projects
- particularly power project financing
- M&A experience
- real estate experience
- Federal/state siting and permitting laws experience
- experience working in US ISO/RTO power markets
