Job Summary

Provide skilled nursing care to young pediatric patients with feeding tubes and medication administration needs, adhering to physician orders and care plans. Continuously assess patient conditions, document all activities and nursing actions, and educate families on disease processes and self-care techniques. Recognize changes in patient needs requiring intervention to prevent or reduce risk while maintaining infection control measures. Participate in updating nursing care plans and achieve expected clinical outcomes under RN supervision. Maintain knowledge of nursing competencies through continued education and skill evaluations.

Required Qualifications

  • Must have and maintain an active, unencumbered license (LPN/LVN) in the state in which the clinician will practice
  • Compact licenses must be transferred to your state of residence within 90 days
  • Current CPR certification (with hands-on component)
  • TB skin test (current within last 12 months)
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Must be able to speak, write, read and understand English
  • Must be able to travel
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • Must be able to sufficiently reposition patients and move equipment without assistance
  • Must be able to sit and climb stairs
  • Must have visual and hearing acuity
  • Must have strong sense of smell and touch
  • Must be able to appropriately respond physically and mentally to emergency situations in the home or during transport
  • Must be able to function in a wide variety of environments which may involve exposure to allergens and other various conditions
  • Possible exposure to blood, bodily fluids and infectious diseases
  • Must comply with all health-related requirements in all relevant jurisdictions, including required vaccinations and testing, subject to exemptions for medical or religious reasons
  • Must be able to adhere to confidentiality standards and professional boundaries
  • Must be able to comply with Aveanna policies, state and federal regulations, accrediting bodies and the Nurse Practice Act
  • Must be able to provide care utilizing infection control measures that protect both the staff and the patient according to OSHA standards
  • Must be able to participate in educational programs, continued education units, internal learning management skills and skill evaluations
  • Must be able to recognize changes in patient needs and responses requiring intervention and implement care to prevent risk or reduce risk
  • Must be able to accept responsibility for personal and professional accountability
  • Must be able to continuously observe and assess patient condition and care needs and report changes in condition to the supervisor and/or physician
  • Must be able to document all activities, assessments, nursing actions, responses and coordination of care in a timely manner
  • Must be able to participate, implement and update the nursing care plan
  • Must be able to take appropriate nursing action based on assessment and achieve expected outcomes
  • Must be able to deliver and coordinate quality patient care in compliance with physician orders
  • Must be able to educate the patient and family regarding the disease process, self-care techniques, and prevention strategies
  • Must be able to maintain knowledge of competencies related to the nursing profession
  • Must be able to effectively problem-solve and resolve conflict
  • Must be able to demonstrate good organization and communication skills
  • Must be able to demonstrate attention to detail
  • Must be able to manage time effectively
  • Must be able to work in a clinical care setting
  • Must be able to work under current nursing license
  • Must be able to work as a licensed nurse
  • Must be able to obtain Continuing Education as required by state
  • Must be able to work in South Carolina with One (1) year of pediatrics experience
  • Must be able to work in California with One (1) year of experience required working under current nursing license
  • Must be able to work in Louisiana with One (1) year of experience required working as a licensed nurse
  • Must be able to work in a home health setting
  • Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in clinical assessments, documentation and compliance with nursing care and policies and procedures
  • Must be able to work in a wide variety of environments which may involve exposure to allergens and other various conditions
  • Must be able to comply with all health-related requirements in all relevant jurisdictions, including required vaccinations and testing, subject to exemptions for medical or religious reasons

Desired Qualifications

  • Six months prior hands-on nursing experience preferred but not required
  • Six (6) months of recent experience as a Licensed Nurse in a clinical care setting
  • Home health experience
  • Aveanna can assist in obtaining CPR certification after hire, if necessary
