Job Summary
Provide skilled nursing care for pediatric patients with high-acuity needs including feeding tubes, tracheostomies, and ventilators while adhering to physician orders and care plans. Continuously assess patient conditions, document all activities and nursing actions, and implement interventions to prevent or reduce risks. Educate families on disease processes and self-care techniques while maintaining infection control standards and professional boundaries. Report changes in patient status to supervisors or physicians as appropriate. Maintain knowledge of nursing competencies through continued education and skill evaluations.
Required Qualifications
- Active, unencumbered RN license in the state of practice
- Current CPR certification (with hands-on component)
- TB skin test (current within last 12 months)
- Reliable transportation
- Graduate of an accredited Diploma, Associate or Baccalaureate School of Nursing
- Current, unrestricted state license as a Registered Nurse in the state of practice
- Demonstrated proficiency in clinical assessments, documentation and compliance with nursing care and policies and procedures
- Must be able to speak, write, read and understand English
- Must be able to travel
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds
- Must have visual and hearing acuity
- Must have strong sense of smell and touch
- Must be able to sufficiently reposition patients and move equipment without assistance
- Must be able to appropriately respond physically and mentally to emergency situations in the home or during transport
- Must be able to function in a wide variety of environments which may involve exposure to allergens and other various conditions
- Possible exposure to blood, bodily fluids and infectious diseases
- Must comply with all health-related requirements in all relevant jurisdictions, including required vaccinations and testing, subject to exemptions for medical or religious reasons
Desired Qualifications
- Six months prior hands-on nursing experience
- Six (6) months of recent experience as a Licensed Nurse in a clinical care setting
- Home health experience
