Job Summary
The In-Home Care Attendant provides assistance to individuals facing challenges in performing daily activities, enhancing their sense of independence in a home setting. Responsibilities include following care plans, assisting with mobility and personal hygiene, preparing meals, helping with shopping, performing light housekeeping, and being a supportive companion. Applicants must possess strong communication skills, be ethical and organized, and have the ability to work independently. The role has physical demands and requires the ability to lift over 50 pounds. Caregiver training is necessary upon hiring.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to work independently and meet overlapping deadlines
- Ability to exercise initiative, critical thinking, and independent judgment
- Must be ethical, detail-oriented and very organized
- Excellent communication skills that are clear, compassionate, and patient
- Familiar with aging, illness, chronic and congenital conditions adversely affecting health
- Observes confidentiality and safeguards all consumer-related information
- Develops a cooperative relationship and communicates effectively and professionally with consumers, families, co-workers, and referral sources
- Experience working in diverse environments
- Must complete caregiver training approved by Medicaid upon hiring
- Acceptance of the mission, philosophy, and goals of the organization
- Ability to work with individuals to enlist the cooperation of many people to perform/achieve a common goal
