Job Summary
In-Home Behavior Therapist (BT Trainee) providing 1:1 therapy to children on the autism spectrum in clients' homes under BCBA supervision. Start with a 40-hour competency training and a guaranteed pay increase after passing the national board exam, progressing from $21/hour to $24/hour upon certification. Responsibilities include implementing individualized behavior intervention plans, data collection on a tablet, teaching functional communication, social interaction, and independent living skills, and managing challenging behaviors with positive reinforcement. Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent, ability to perform physical activities (play on the floor, run, crouch, lift up to 35 lbs), successful background check, and reliable transportation for in-home sessions. Prior ABA experience is not required; preferred backgrounds include childcare, nannying, camp counseling, youth coaching, preschool teaching, daycare assistance, or instructional aid roles.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Complete 40-hour training course
- Pass initial competency assessment
- Criminal background check clearance
- Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle (if traveling to in-home client sessions)
- Ability to lift up to 35 lbs
- Reliable transportation
- Experience preferred in childcare, babysitting, nannying, camp counseling, youth coaching, preschool teaching, daycare assistance, school paraprofessional or instructional aide roles (preferred)
