Job Summary
Mental Health Specialist II to provide hands-on and verbal assistance, mentoring, and guidance to individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities and/or mental health diagnoses in an apartment-style setting. Responsibilities include assisting with daily activities (personal care, meal preparation, transportation, housekeeping, laundry), ensuring safety and comfort, documenting progress, supporting behavior guidance plans, transporting individuals to appointments or activities outside the home, building relationships with persons served and teammates, participating in community occasions and social events, and supporting tailored outcomes. Requires at least 3 years’ experience with challenging behaviors, 18+ to work in residential programs (21+ for child foster care), and a valid driver’s license with adequate insurance. Hours may be full or part-time with weekend/holiday requirements; benefits include health, dental, vision insurance, 401(k), PTO, and growth opportunities. Required Qualifications
- 18 years or older to work in residential adult programs
- 21 years or older to work in child foster care homes
- Minimum of three years’ experience working with persons with challenging physical and/or verbal aggressions and/or property destruction and/ or self-injurious behaviors
- Prefer experience working with persons with intellectual or developmental disabilities
- Experience working with Mental Health/Illness is preferred
- Must have a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record as determined by policy
- Current auto liability insurance
- Computer skills for documentation
- Ability to perform personal cares
- Good communication and documentation skills
