Job Summary
Coordinate with agents and partners to ensure all import shipments are properly documented and sorted for incoming consolidations. Process and distribute documentation necessary for import freight to clear US Customs and deliver to consignees in accordance with governmental regulations. Study transportation modes to ascertain efficient freight movement, make I/T entries for forwarding, and negotiate rates with trucking companies and airlines. Arrange local deliveries after customs clearance, issue invoices, and provide quotations to customers and overseas partners. Perform customer service duties via correspondence and assist in implementing service policies. Requires flexible and long hours, occasional lifting up to 50 pounds, and potential overnight travel.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to use basic math skills to calculate duties and freight, storage and other charges
- Solid understanding of the international forwarding business
- Flexible and long hours sometimes required
- Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, frequently and/or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects
- Overnight travel may be required
