Job Summary
Implement and continuously improve the trade compliance program for Saab's Land Systems division, ensuring adherence to ITAR, EAR, and other U.S. and international trade laws. Partner with engineering teams, foreign affiliates, and government agencies to execute business objectives, draft export license applications, and manage authorizations through U.S. Government systems. Serve as an Empowered Official, translating corporate policies into local site procedures while monitoring regulatory changes to advise management on risk mitigation. Develop and deliver compliance training, standardize practices across locations, and support internal audits and fact-finding activities. Requires a Bachelor's or Master's degree with 8-10+ years of experience, a Security Clearance, and the ability to travel 5%-10%. Located in Auburn Hills, Grayling, or East Syracuse, NY (or Washington, D.C.), with a salary range of $101,600-$158,500.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- 10+ years of experience with the ITAR, EAR, and other applicable trade regulations
- Master's degree
- 8+ years of experience
- Equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience partnering with engineering teams on USML/ECCN classification determinations
- Experience improving product marking, labeling, and related workflows
- Currently hold, or have the ability to obtain and maintain, a Security Clearance
- Ability to travel 5%-10%, domestically and possibly internationally
- Must be a U.S. citizen
- Must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information
- Required to pass a pre-employment drug screen
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with classification
- Experience with BATFE permanent import licensing
- Experience with the compliant shipment of explosive materials and other defense articles on the U.S. Munitions Import List
- Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly explain issues and requirements rather than simply stating them
- Experience working with foreign entities and an appreciation of cultural differences
- Ability to work independently as well as under direction
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to perform and manage multiple substantive and administrative activities concurrently
