Job Summary
Implement and continuously improve the trade compliance program for Saab's Land Systems division, ensuring adherence to ITAR, EAR, and other U.S. and international trade laws. Partner with key functions and foreign affiliates to develop export licensing strategies, draft license applications, and submit requests through U.S. Government systems. Serve as an Empowered Official to resolve issues, obtain authorizations, and communicate license conditions to stakeholders. Translate corporate policies into local site procedures, standardize practices across locations, and deliver tailored compliance training. Monitor regulatory changes, advise management on risk mitigation, and support internal audits. Requires a Bachelor's or Master's degree with 10+ or 8+ years of experience, a Security Clearance, and 5-10% travel. Locations include Auburn Hills, Grayling, East Syracuse, and Washington, D.C.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- 10+ years of experience with the ITAR, EAR, and other applicable trade regulations
- Master's degree
- 8+ years of experience
- Equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience partnering with engineering teams on USML/ECCN classification determinations
- Experience improving product marking, labeling, and related workflows
- Currently hold, or have the ability to obtain and maintain, a Security Clearance
- Ability to travel 5%-10%, domestically and possibly internationally
- Must be a U.S. citizen
- Must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with classification
- Experience with BATFE permanent import licensing
- Experience with the compliant shipment of explosive materials and other defense articles on the U.S. Munitions Import List
- Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly explain issues and requirements rather than simply stating them
- Experience working with foreign entities and an appreciation of cultural differences
- Ability to work independently as well as under direction
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to perform and manage multiple substantive and administrative activities concurrently
