Job Summary
Implement and continuously improve the trade compliance program with meaningful attention to defense-related activities and the Land Systems division. Serve as a subject matter expert on ITAR and EAR compliance, providing clear guidance to enable decision-making and compliant conduct. Draft export license applications, submit requests through U.S. Government systems, and track cases to monitor progress. Partner with key functions, foreign affiliates, and government agencies to resolve issues, obtain authorizations, and ensure license conditions are followed. Translate corporate policies into local site procedures and standardize practices across locations. Monitor changes to trade laws, advise management on business impacts, and develop targeted training to promote a culture of accountability. Support internal audits and deliver export compliance briefings to cross-functional audiences.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- 10+ years of experience with the ITAR, EAR, and other applicable trade regulations
- Master's degree
- 8+ years of experience
- Equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience partnering with engineering teams on USML/ECCN classification determinations
- Experience improving product marking, labeling, and related workflows
- Currently hold, or have the ability to obtain and maintain, a Security Clearance
- Ability to travel 5%-10%, domestically and possibly internationally
- Must be a U.S. citizen
- Must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information
- Required to pass a pre-employment drug screen
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with classification
- Experience with BATFE permanent import licensing
- Experience with the compliant shipment of explosive materials and other defense articles on the U.S. Munitions Import List
- Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly explain issues and requirements rather than simply stating them
- Experience working with foreign entities and an appreciation of cultural differences
- Ability to work independently as well as under direction
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to perform and manage multiple substantive and administrative activities concurrently
